In September, the Norwegian Tunnelling Network visited Arequipa and Lima to explore opportunities in the Peruvian market and introduce the Norwegian tunnelling industry to clients, stakeholders, and future partners in Peru. First, the Norwegian team attended the large mining tradeshow Perumin 37, where we met clients, stakeholders, and experts operating in the Peruvian market. Leter the same week, we were invited by the embassy to present at the Norway–Peru Business Night in Lima, held at the Lima Marina Club.

Peru has a strong pipeline of large-scale infrastructure and mining projects where advanced tunneling solutions are highly relevant for the Norwegian industry. On the public side, major transportation and energy projects are being developed, while in the private sector, large mining companies continue to expand operations in challenging geographies. We strongly believe there is significant potential for the Norwegian tunneling industry to explore.
The visit to the Perumin 37 mining expo gave us valuable insights into upcoming underground mining projects, new contacts in the mining industry, and a deeper understanding of the industry and culture in Peru.

The Norway–Peru Business Night aimed to position Norway as a trusted business partner in Peru. Through “sofa talks,” short conversations, and networking, the event showcased Norwegian strengths in financial services, sustainable infrastructure, and technology solutions, including the Norwegian tunneling industry.
We are impressed with how smoothly this event was organized. Our Team Norway partner in Latin America, the Norwegian embassy in Santiago, supported by the Honorary Consul in Peru, has recently made a major effort to explore market opportunities and connect us with key stakeholders, clients, and partners. This successful event gave us a chance to personally connect and introduce the Norwegian tunneling industry to the Peruvian market.
Overall, it was a very successful market visit, and we want to thank Per Anders Nilsen, Ambassador of Norway, Honorary Consul Matthias Stimman, and everyone involved in the business event in Lima. In addition, special thanks to Raúl Alta Torre del Águila, President of the Nordic-Peruvian Chamber of Commerce*, and Alberto Morales Arias, General Manager of Nordlink**, for their support and for a great start to a promising collaboration between the Norwegian tunneling industry and business partners in Peru.

The Norwegian Tunnelling Network also sincerely appreciates the support from our HPO project team***, which includes Thorvald Wetlesen, CEO of Bever Control; Mario Morales, researcher at SINTEF; and Matias Egána, an expert advisor for the Norwegian tunnelling industry, as well as Team Norway, represented by Innovation Norway.
